Code Signing Certificate is used by software developers for securing downloadable software applications. Code signing certificates hash the software application and attach the digital signature of the software developer. Code Signing Certificate authenticates the identity of a software developer and assures that the digitally signed piece of software was not tampered with.
Whenever any user attempts to download unsigned software, the internet browser or antivirus software will alert and show a warning message about the unknown publisher. If downloaded software is signed using a Code Signing Certificate, then the browser will trust the downloaded file and let it run install. The browser will also check and verify the integrity of the signed software downloaded.
