WWTI is a licensed NGO registered under the Bombay Public Trust Act, 1950, Orphanages and other Charitable Homes (Supervision and Controls) Act, 1960, and Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection) Act, 2000. Beginning in 1984 with 8 children in residential care, First Children's Home-Bal Anand has now expanded to 55 children. Ten to twelve other centers, Bal Ashraya and Bal Uday Shishu Greh, located in Nagpur and Bhandara, respectively, offer shelter to children.
Bal Anand is a home for special kids. A whole floor was set aside for their development and care, with workers on duty around the clock under the supervision of skilled professionals. Children attending special schools in India, including Sulabha School for Mentally Retarded and ADAPT, now called the National Resource Centre for Inclusion. Home-based supplementary therapy and education, including yoga, dancing, and arts and crafts are taught.
