Forum For Autism
The Forum For Autism [FFA] is a public trust that was founded in 2001 and is registered as a public trust and society as a parent body to empathize with one another, understand their concerns and anxiety, and fight the common cause. The major goal of FFA, as stated in the Memorandum, is to improve facilities for the diagnosis, education, training, and rehabilitation of people with AARDD, and to do so through a variety of activities. There are 350 members in the Forum, including parents and professionals, although over the years around 2000 families have joined at some point.
The FFA maintains a library of books on Autism and associated illnesses. To tackle developmental abnormalities, FFA maintains a database of various therapists such as speech therapists, auditory retraining, sensory integration, special schools, career guidance, and special dieticians. FA is a member of Action for Autism, a renowned national parent organization based in New Delhi. Under the National Trusts Act, FFA has also applied to be registered with the National Trust for Autism (created by the Government of India). With this relationship, FFA intends to expand its footprint in the areas of autism awareness and aiding the cause of those afflicted.
